Account book, 1757-1804 (bulk 1765).

Account book of the Gardiner family of Gardiners Island, N.Y., 1757-1804. The book was begun by David Gardiner (1738-1774). He kept accounts in pounds and shillings of foodstuffs, wheat, corn, oats, and other produce. The book also references tax payments. Entries after David Gardiner's death were kept by his son, John Lyon Gardiner (1770-1816), and consist primarily of accounts of livestock and their byproducts, hide and tallow.
